Hovedgaden

Den gennemgående gade i Store Magleby var oprindeligt en forlængelse af Amager Landevej, der i slutningen af 1700-tallet blev lagt som en næsten snorlige hovedvej på langs af øen.

Da lufthavnen havde behov for længere startbaner i slutningen af 1950’erne, blev vejforbindelsen til København skåret over og omlagt til den nuværende Englandsvej. Den blev i folkemunde kaldt ”Jetvejen”, fordi jetflyene passerede tæt henover den.
